近日,協(xié)會首席榮譽會長、北師港浸大(UIC)校長、中國科學院院士湯濤教授當選為歐洲科學院(European Academy of Sciences)院士。

歐洲科學院(European Academy of Sciences)總部位于比利時布魯塞爾,于2003年成立,是非贏利與非政府的國際性學術榮譽組織,主要由在科學與技術前沿的科學、工程、人文與社會科學領域的歐洲杰出學者組成,以促進科學與技術在社會與經(jīng)濟發(fā)展中的基礎性作用。該院在九個不同學科領域擁有來自45個國家的600多名院士,包括65位諾貝爾獎和菲爾茲獎獲得者。

湯濤教授主要從事計算數(shù)學研究,研究內(nèi)容包括微分方程自適應算法、高精度算法,他在雙曲型方程計算方法誤差分析,微分方程譜方法理論,相場模型的算法與理論,以及計算流體力學等領域的研究工作具有廣泛影響。其研究成果曾獲教育部自然科學一等獎,國家自然科學二等獎。2018年,被國際數(shù)學家大會邀請作45分鐘報告。曾擔任多個國際數(shù)學期刊主編或編委。2017年獲選中國科學院院士。

湯濤教授表示入選歐洲科學院院士得益于國際學術界對其學術貢獻以及學術管理方面的肯定。他將繼續(xù)帶領UIC加強博雅教育特色,不斷探索香港和內(nèi)地教育合作模式,培養(yǎng)更多在國際上有競爭力的高素質人才。

UIC President Prof Tang Tao elected Fellow of European Academy of Sciences

UIC President Prof Tang Tao has been elected a Fellow of the European Academy of Sciences (EurASc).

EurASc is a non-profit, non-governmental, independent organisation of the most distinguished scholars and engineers performing forefront research and the development of advanced technologies, united by a commitment to promoting science and technology and their essential roles in fostering social and economic development.

Prof Tang Tao is a Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Fellow of the American Mathematical Society, Fellow of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM), and Fellow of the China Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (CSIAM). Widely known for his expertise in computational mathematics, in particular high-order methods and adaptive grid methods, Prof Tang was awarded the Leslie Fox Prize in Numerical Analysis, the Feng Kang Prize for Scientific Computing, First Prize in Natural Science by the Ministry of Education, and Second Prize in the National Natural Science Award. He gave an invited lecture at the International Congress of Mathematicians (ICM) in 2018.

Showing his appreciation for the international academia, Prof Tang Tao says that becoming a Fellow of the European Academy of Sciences recognises his academic contributions and management. He will continue to lead UIC to develop a top-flight liberal arts education with solid cooperation between the Chinese Mainland and Hong Kong and most importantly, cultivate more high-calibre internationally-competitive students.
