近日，協(xié)會(huì)首席榮譽(yù)會(huì)長(zhǎng)、北師港浸大（UIC）校長(zhǎng)、中國(guó)科學(xué)院院士湯濤教授當(dāng)選為歐洲科學(xué)院（European Academy of Sciences）院士。

歐洲科學(xué)院（European Academy of Sciences）總部位于比利時(shí)布魯塞爾，于2003年成立，是非贏利與非政府的國(guó)際性學(xué)術(shù)榮譽(yù)組織，主要由在科學(xué)與技術(shù)前沿的科學(xué)、工程、人文與社會(huì)科學(xué)領(lǐng)域的歐洲杰出學(xué)者組成，以促進(jìn)科學(xué)與技術(shù)在社會(huì)與經(jīng)濟(jì)發(fā)展中的基礎(chǔ)性作用。該院在九個(gè)不同學(xué)科領(lǐng)域擁有來(lái)自45個(gè)國(guó)家的600多名院士，包括65位諾貝爾獎(jiǎng)和菲爾茲獎(jiǎng)獲得者。

湯濤教授主要從事計(jì)算數(shù)學(xué)研究，研究?jī)?nèi)容包括微分方程自適應(yīng)算法、高精度算法，他在雙曲型方程計(jì)算方法誤差分析，微分方程譜方法理論，相場(chǎng)模型的算法與理論，以及計(jì)算流體力學(xué)等領(lǐng)域的研究工作具有廣泛影響。其研究成果曾獲教育部自然科學(xué)一等獎(jiǎng)，國(guó)家自然科學(xué)二等獎(jiǎng)。2018年，被國(guó)際數(shù)學(xué)家大會(huì)邀請(qǐng)作45分鐘報(bào)告。曾擔(dān)任多個(gè)國(guó)際數(shù)學(xué)期刊主編或編委。2017年獲選中國(guó)科學(xué)院院士。

湯濤教授表示入選歐洲科學(xué)院院士得益于國(guó)際學(xué)術(shù)界對(duì)其學(xué)術(shù)貢獻(xiàn)以及學(xué)術(shù)管理方面的肯定。他將繼續(xù)帶領(lǐng)UIC加強(qiáng)博雅教育特色，不斷探索香港和內(nèi)地教育合作模式，培養(yǎng)更多在國(guó)際上有競(jìng)爭(zhēng)力的高素質(zhì)人才。

UIC President Prof Tang Tao elected Fellow of European Academy of Sciences

UIC President Prof Tang Tao has been elected a Fellow of the European Academy of Sciences (EurASc).

EurASc is a non-profit, non-governmental, independent organisation of the most distinguished scholars and engineers performing forefront research and the development of advanced technologies, united by a commitment to promoting science and technology and their essential roles in fostering social and economic development.

Prof Tang Tao is a Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Fellow of the American Mathematical Society, Fellow of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM), and Fellow of the China Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (CSIAM). Widely known for his expertise in computational mathematics, in particular high-order methods and adaptive grid methods, Prof Tang was awarded the Leslie Fox Prize in Numerical Analysis, the Feng Kang Prize for Scientific Computing, First Prize in Natural Science by the Ministry of Education, and Second Prize in the National Natural Science Award. He gave an invited lecture at the International Congress of Mathematicians (ICM) in 2018.

Showing his appreciation for the international academia, Prof Tang Tao says that becoming a Fellow of the European Academy of Sciences recognises his academic contributions and management. He will continue to lead UIC to develop a top-flight liberal arts education with solid cooperation between the Chinese Mainland and Hong Kong and most importantly, cultivate more high-calibre internationally-competitive students.
